Central Installation and Administration of AVG in Wide Networks
The "Central Installation and Supervision" installation type allows you to install AVG remotely to all workstations in your network. You can then centrally supervise, control, and update all AVG clients.
Within this installation option you will encounter the following terms:
- AVG DataCenter
The AVG DataCenter is basically a database that contains information about AVG Remote Administration configuration. Individual AVG clients take the controlling instructions from the AVG DataCenter and use them to operate AVG on workstations. Also, the AVG clients send their test results back to the AVG DataCenter. The network administrator accesses the AVG DataCenter using AVGADMIN. Communication between the AVG DataCenter and all AVG clients is managed by the AVG TCP Server.
- AVG TCP Server
The AVG TCP Server intermediates communication between the AVG DataCenter and connected AVG clients, and also the AVGADMIN application. AVG TCP Server works as local web server for AVG clients update as well.
- AVGADMIN
AVGADMIN is an application that enables the network administrator to access the AVG DataCenter remotely, and to configure settings of AVG clients connected to the AVG DataCenter.
- AVG Managed Update
The AVG Managed Update is a service for our clients that enables forced AVG updates invoked by the Grisoft Corporation. Thus you can obtain and distribute the update immediately after its release.
For large networks we recommend installing more than one AVG DataCenter in order to decrease the network load. For each AVG DataCenter select a network-connected computer with sufficient hardware, and with the Windows OS installed. It is necessary to have this computer switched on permanently. All AVG clients must be connected to one AVG DataCenter according to the network topology.

Proceed with the installation following the steps below:
- AVG DataCenter and AVGADMIN Installation
- AVG TCP Server Configuration
- AVG DataCenter Configuration
- Clients Installation
- Updates
