Installation type selection

When selecting the optimal AVG Remote Administration installation type you should consider the following parameters:

  • the size and configuration of your computer network (your file server type, number of workstations in the network, the network's topology, ...)
  • your expectations of AVG Remote Administration performance (your needs and requirements; desired level of administrator's rights, ...)

AVG Remote Administration installation types

Remote AVG Installation >>>
This type of installation is suitable for small networks with no access rights levels differentiation. It allows the administrator to install AVG centrally to all workstations in the network.

Central installation and administration of AVG >>>
This type of installation is recommended to most network administrators. It allows the administrator to:
  • install AVG centrally to all workstations in the network
  • stay informed about all virus events on all AVG clients
  • control AVG behavior centrally on all network workstations
  • update AVG centrally on all network workstations

Central installation and administration of AVG in wide networks >>>
This type of installation is intended for VPN connected workstations, remote workplaces, and wide networks with over 200 workstations. AVG Remote Administration functionality and performance stays the same as with the previous installation type. However, the main difference is the possibility of spreading the overall load over more computers managing separate parts of the wide network. This installation type allows the administrator to:
  • install AVG centrally to all workstations in the network
  • stay informed about all virus events on all AVG clients
  • control AVG behavior centrally on all network workstations
  • update AVG centrally on all network workstations
